Small, sharp and exquisitely finished, the second we clapped eyes on this little guy we fell in love.
We all expect hatchets to be heavy, and wear out the shoulder and elbow. Not so at this scale. Of course the trade off of a smaller tool is having less weight behind the cut, however, with a beautiful laminated blue steel blade, the double bevelled edge can be brought to a razor sharp finish. This, combined with a thick blade (5mm) keeps the cuts moving.
Of course, the impression this tool leaves is not exclusively due to the satin-finish forged patina of the blade. The white oak handle sweeps out to an thicker pommel, which keeps it nicely seated in the hand.
Finally, the full-grain leather sheath is a thing of beauty entirely in it's own right. Hang it off your belt or keep it protected and close by.
